They do not bury and cremate their dead bodies as other Balinese do, but only lay them down in the open grave of about twenty inches deep. The dead bodies are onlycovered with pieces of cloth and let the face open. The grave yard is situated at the bank of the lake under the deep ravines, making unable to be visited by wild animals.

Trunyan is derived from "Taru Menyan" (the smell of fragrant tree of incence),the name of beautiful girl of this village who married Datonta, a God in disguised. when she was left by her husband, he promised to watch this village in disguised and made this village prosperous.

Datonta prohibited her marryanother man. She promised not marry any more so that she could meet him in heaven. After the daeth of Tarumenyan, the people of this village created a huge image of datonta as their God,and called him "Ratu Gede Pusering Jagad" (His Majesty on World). the people of this village still worship this God until today.

Trunyan

The village of Trunyan, lying at the bank of lake Batur, Kintamani, is a village inhabited by the aborogines, the Bali Aga.These people have a special custom of funeral and

Kuta Beach

For the majority of tourist to Bali, time honoured images of palm fringed beaches are uppormost in the mind and probable the biggest single reason for purchasing that ticket to paradise.

The reality is all that and more. While those palm fringed beaches do exist, there is olso the wild coastline of the west with black sand beaches and treacherous waters, as well as the dramatic surf beaches of the bukit, the aquamarine lagoons of Lembongan island and the sleepy coves in the north.

KUTA beach remains the most popular strip and extends all the way up to Canggu and dawn towards the airport in Tuban. Mount Batur was the summit of mount Panulisan. Becouse of the several eruption, the former top of the mount was invisible. some decades later the new peak appreared becoming the recent mount Batur. It stands in the centre of the old creater. It's sides are covered with the black lava spilled out into the great bowl of the older crater in the lastest eruptions. It is said that the lava has not yet cooled deep down and, when the rain water seeps through the cracks of the dried lava it turns into clauds of steam. Half circling the hamlets and the village of Trunyan inhabited by the aborogines, the Bali Aga.

In former times the prosperous village of Batur lay at the foot of the volcano, but today only the villages across the lake and some hamlets along the shores of the lake remain there.

One day mount batur began to growl and, in 1917 it burst into a violent erouption accompanied by several earthquakeakes. The whole of the island was effected, tens of thousands buildings and temples in Bali were destroyed. The lava engulfed the village of Batur, but stopped at the very gate of the tample. The villagers took the miracle as a good omen and continued to live there. In Agust 1926, however, a new eruption buried the village and their sacred temple under the molten lava, this time with the loss of on life, an old women who died of fright. Being unable to break the spell that links their destinies, the people of Batur evacuated their homes and rebuilt their village high up the rim of the outer crater, renamed Kubu Batur. This village swells becoming the village of Kintamani. After being in active for some periods, in 1963 again, mount Batur has been beginning to active untill taday, but this time the eruption moves in peaceful action.

Running wave panatration

All concur that the year 2009 full of uncertainty. These word had been taken for naming the beach where the temple is situated. Since then both the beach and Temple are called Tanah-Lot. It is believed that the land on which the temple is situated was a part of the main land. Because of being attacked by the strong waves of the sea for hundreds of years, theshore of the beach was cut apart from the main land. Whwn the sea is in up tide the smaller land looks like an islet.

Tanah Lot has connection with the history of Hindu religion spreading in Bali a few hundred year ago with a holy priest called Dahyang Nirata was the chief of the mission. It was believed that somewhere round this beach was the priest's dwelling place and was considered as holy.

It is the customfor Hindu Balinese people to build a shrine or temple on the ground which is looked upon as holy, especially at the former residence of a priest or an extraordinary religious event ever happened at the place in honour of the soul or deity who ever lived there. Tanah Lot temple is the same.

It was built in honour of Dahyang Nirata's soul, who is believed to return up the heaven and become a deity. As a deity, dahyang Nirata has become the God of Hindu Balinese people all over the island.

Pura Uluwatu

Location : Bukit Pecatu, the southern most edge of the island of Bali, 100 metres above the
sea level.
